The Allegany County Health Department (ACHD), located in Cumberland, Maryland, plays a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of the residents of Allegany County. The department offers a wide range of evidence-based services and programs focused on addressing gaps in community health resources.  Through partnerships with state and local agencies, healthcare providers, schools, emergency services, and community organizations, ACHD works to address complex public health challenges  and to ensure that needed health services are available and accessible. As a trusted leader in public health, the Allegany County Health Department is dedicated to improving the overall health outcomes of the community and ensuring that all residents have access to the resources and information they need to lead healthy lives. 

Our Mission is to promote physical, behavioral, and environmental health, and prevent disease and disabilities of people in Allegany County.

Whether it be providing vaccinations at a public clinic; ensuring the safety of community water and food supplies; fostering strong and healthy foundations for youth and families; preparing for public health emergencies; or providing direct clinical services, ACHD remains committed to its core mission: to ensure that the residents of Allegany County are healthy, informed, and supported as we work together to build a brighter, healthier future for all people of Allegany County.
