ALLEGANY COUNTY FLOOD RECOVERY RESOURCES

URGENT PUBLIC HEALTH NOTICES:  RAW SEWAGE FOUND IN BRADDOCK RUN AND GEORGES CREEK

Braddock Run:  As a result of the recent flooding, raw sewage is flowing into Braddock Run downstream from Upper LaVale, which then flows into Wills Creek and downstream to the Potomac River.   The affected portion of the Potomac River is specifically the waters downstream from Wills Creek. 

Georges Creek: As a result of the recent flooding, raw sewage is flowing into Georges Creek between the Town of Shaft and the Westernport Wastewater Treatment Plant, which then flows into the Potomac River. Do not drink, fish, or come into direct contact with those waters until further notice. At this time, the known affected portion of Georges Creek is specifically the waters downstream from the Town of Shaft to the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Westernport. Contaminants from raw sewage can cause severe illness.

All proceeds go to HRDC’s Disaster/Flood Relief account. Funds will be utilized to assist those in need during this difficult time.   • Monetary donations can be made to the Chessie Goodwill Account at any branch of Chessie FCU.
  • The Allegany County Chamber of Commerce is collecting bottled water (bottles or jugs) for those in need in the George’s Creek area.  Cash donations for water purchase can be sent by Venmo to @alcochamber21502.
